Isanzu, Kadio decorate Lina PG Tour
MOROGORO: THE second edition of the Lina Professional Golfer’s (PG) Tour Pro-Am tournament was held over the weekend at the Morogoro Gymkhana Club course in Morogoro.
TPC Club’s youth, Ally Isanzu, emerged as the top performer of the event by winning the elite amateur category and pocketing a cash prize of 2.2m/-. Professional golfer, Hassan Kadio, won the jackpot of 6.8m/- cash prize as the winner of the professional category.
According to the Amateur Status, an amateur playing in a scratch competition can accept any prize, including prize money, but up to a limit of £700 or US$1000 in value per competition. The Lina Pro-Am tour is a unique golf event being staged in Tanzania at the moment.
It pays homage to Lina Nkya, the woman who spearheaded the success of women golfers at the global podiums and is also titled the Road to Dubai for the overall best performers of both amateur and professional categories.

Ally Isanzu is in pole position to play in Dubai in the amateur category since his scores seem hard to beat. Isanzu won the event with an aggregate score of +9, grossing 74,73,72, and 78 in his four-day onslaught, followed by pro Hassan Kadio with an aggregate score of +12. Kadio fetched a cash prize of 6.8m/- for winning the second edition. Abdallah Yusuf finished overall runner-up in the pros category after grossing +16 and received 4.3m/- ahead of the third-placed Nuru Mollel with +17, the winner of the first edition who bagged a cash prize of 3.4m/-. Bryceson Nyenza, who penned +18, was fourth (2.7m/-) ahead of the fifth-place Isaac Wanyeche who grossed +22 (2.2m/-).
Other golfers who claimed the top-ten spots and won prizes included sixth place Fadhil Nkya (1.2m/), while no. 7 to 10 who are Frank Roman, Salum Dilunga, Athumani Chiundu and John Said were awarded 480,000/- each.
In the amateur golfers’ class, Isanzu beat his closest opponent, Isiaka Daudi, by 15 strokes as he finished with +24 and was awarded 1.3m/-. Michael Massawe, who grossed +30, came third, and Victor Joseph, who also grossed +30, shared the 1.6m/- prize as the fourth-placed. Seif Mcharo walked away with 570,000/- after grossing +32.
The second edition of the tournament was a success with over 120 participants, and it was organised by Said Nkya Family and Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU), according to the Tour’s Director, Yasmin Chali.
