What Tanzania’s President said after Young Africans’ defeat to Mamelodi in CAF-CL quarter-finals
DAR ES SALAAM: Despite being eliminated from CAF Champions League by hosts Mamelodi Sundowns in penalty shout-out, Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan has congratulated Young Africans for the superb performance against the Masandawana.
Yanga suffered a 3-2 post-match defeat from the South African giants at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, South Africa on Friday night.
Immediately after the tense game that decided the semis qualifier in Pretoria, SA, the Head of State took to the social media to congratulate ‘the Citizens’ saying: “Good game Yanga, You have shown thirst and spirit to bring pride to the country.
“We expect much from you in this competition (Champions League and Confederation Cup) next season. We will continue to support you.”
However, after a red-hot normal period of play, nothing was produced to separate the duo hence penalties were inevitable.
