Azam FC, Coastal Union face off in FA semis
MWANZA: TODAY is a do-or-die match for Azam FC and Coastal Union as they lock horns in the CRDB Federation Cup semi-final at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza.
Both teams advanced to the semi-final after outstanding performances in the quarter-finals, when both defeated their opponents. On May 1st, 2024, Coastal Union defeated Geita Gold FC 1-0 in Tanga’s Mkwakwani Stadium, with Dennis Modzaka scoring the game-winner.
Azam cruised to a convincing 4-1 victory over Southern killers, Namungo, securing a berth in the semis.
Ahead of their today’s encounter, both teams’ coaches remarked during press conferences that they expect a tough duel, highlighting it’s a do or die battle. Azam FC Head Coach, Bruno Ferry, underlined the significance of being focused and achieving a positive outcome against Coastal Union before the game.
“We will do everything as a team to ensure we finish the game with a good result, as we approach the end of this competition,” he said.
Ferry asked Azam fans to show out in huge numbers to cheer for their club, as they strive for success. On the other side, Coastal Union Coach, David Ouma, voiced confidence in his team’s capacity to win, highlighting the value of daring and collaboration.
“Football is for everyone, and every player needs to bring their abilities to help the team,” said Ouma.
Despite accepting Azam’s challenge, he stated that his squad is prepared to tackle the test front on.
