Kadio, Roman, Nyenza brighten Lina PG’s Morogoro Tour
MOROGORO: PARADING one over each, Bryceson Nyenza, Frank Roman and Hassan Kadio had a brilliant start when the second round of the Lina Professional Golf Tour hit its second round at Morogoro Gymkhana Club course in Morogoro early yesterday.
“It’s just a start, but the going is still tough ahead and the competition looks stiff,” said Nyenza upon completing the 18-hole showdown yesterday. Nyenza, Roman and Kadio tied at one over par 73 strokes, just one stroke superior to the winner of the first edition, Nuru Mollel from Arusha Gymkhana Club (AGC) who grossed two over par 74 strokes.
Kadio, who represents the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club (DGC) made no comment saying the race is still in its infancy. He said anything can happen in the remaining 54 holes in the four-day 72-hole competition. Roman from Moshi Gymkhana Club of Kilimanjaro region avenged the first edition mistake to take the early share lead.
Mollel who won the first edition title in a sudden death playoff after tying with Fadhil Nkya aggregate carded 7-under over 72 holes at the TPC Moshi course in Kilimanjaro region, said he hoped to recover and play better during the second 18-hole showdown today.
Tanzania’s only lady pro, Angel Eaton who had a dismal start in the second edition of Lina PG Tour Morogoro with 84 strokes, said she will work hard in the remaining 54 holes at the climax of the tournament this Sunday.
“That is very assailable for sure,” she said.
