Wake up now, NEEC tells Tanzania’s youths

EXECUTIVE Secretary of the National Economic Empowerment Council (NEEC), Ms Beng’i has called on youth and women in the country to fully exploit abundant investment and business opportunities to better their lives instead of giving up and complains.

“You are very resourceful people and the government counts heavily on you. Tanzania has everything that can make your life better,” Ms Issa during the Young CEO Foundation Roundtable’s Forum that attracted successful young female directors who run their businesses in Dar es Salaam over the weekend.

Speaking on sideline of the forum, NEEC boss commended the forum organisers, saying that youth and women were important workforce in all major means of production and leadership and that the forum was a testimony of youth commitment.

“The youths have to wake up now and transform their lives  in the  sixth phase government under competent leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan who has already taken deliberate measures to empowering youth and women,” she said, calling on youth to fully utilise the opportunity to better themselves.

Expounding further, Ms Issa said the sixth phase government has come up with an initiative dubbed ‘Building a Better Tomorrow’ (BBT) that designed to attract more youth and women participate or play their role in sectors of agriculture, livestock keeping and fishery.

“BBT has already started to yield positive results and also attracted many youth. And NEEC has not been left behind in promoting the successful implementation of the programme,” she explained.

She said the forum was meant to prepare and empowering participants to withstand when they face challenges. They had also an opportunity to exchange their notes of practical experience and knowledge in running their ventures.

“In recognising the significance of their contributions to the economy, the government has been working very close with the private sector to open up and stimulate the growth and development of youth cadre,” she said.

Earlier, the Managing Director of Young CEO Foundation Roundtable, Mr Zakayo Shushu said the foundation’s strategic objective was to reach as many youths in the country as possible so that they could benefit and transform their lives for better.

“We are committed to see youth participate or become key players in the economy and these successful young female directors will help to motive others. We expect in next ten years things will change among the youths,” Mr Shushu said.

Ms Tumaini Lema from Hope Expedition Safaris described the forum as was an important platform exposed participants with skills and knowledge.
