Training on firefighting, rescue benefits Health Ministry’s staff

DODOMA: THE Fire and Rescue Department has provided specialized training to staff of the Ministry of Health on how to handle fire sources and effective methods of extinguishing fires to prevent deaths and injuries.

The training was organized by the Fire and Rescue Department to empower the Ministry’s employees to respond effectively to fire emergencies and other related disasters.

The training took place at the Ministry of Health headquarters in Mtumba. Assistant Inspector of the Fire and Rescue Department, Stephen Katte, who also serves as the department’s Public Relations, Communication, and Public Education Officer, led the training sessions.

Speaking after the conclusion of the training, the Deputy Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services, Paulo Magessa, said the training was beneficial to public servants as it increased their understanding of fire indicators and the proper use of firefighting equipment.

“After this training, we must take prompt action before situations escalate. We need to understand the correct use of fire extinguishers and recognize fire signs, as well as the appropriate steps to take,” said Paulo Magessa.

Meanwhile, the Principal Administrative Officer of the Ministry of Health, Vivian Boniface, expressed gratitude to the trainers and noted that the training greatly helped her understand how to avoid fire hazards not only in the office but also at home and other environments.

“Indeed, this training helped me understand where to be cautious when extinguishing fires and the important things to consider, not only at the workplace but also at home,” said Vivian.

Earlier, Assistant Inspector Stephen Katte explained fire indicators, methods to control fires, and how to quickly seek firefighting assistance.

“We are here at the Ministry of Health to further our responsibility of providing education on fire disaster precautions to reduce or completely prevent fire disasters,” Katte stated.

During the seminar, Ministry of Health staff expressed their satisfaction and appreciation for the training and pledged to serve as ambassadors of this knowledge in their communities.
