‘Simba’s new squad foolproof’

Simba SC

SIMBA continue to press the gas pedal in the transfer window race after roping in defensive midfielder, Fabrice Ngoma who becomes the fourth import to land at the club for the coming season.

Ngoma who was unveiled on Friday  via the club’s verified Instagram page, has sealed a two-year deal to serve the Msimbazi Street giants.

The Democratic Republic of Congo import, Ngoma was previously trading at Sudan’s side Al Hilal where he established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders, hence football fraternity is keen to see his magic at the Msimbazi Street Reds.

Other foreign players who have been signed by the club are Essomba Onana, Che Malone and Aubin Kramo as per the club’s Media and Communication Manager, Ahmed Ally who maintained that they are not yet done with player signings.

However, speculations are hot in social media platforms that Simba have managed to bring back their former player Luis Miquissone from Egyptian giants; Al Ahly though no official communication has been made by the club.

In another development, Simba’s Manager and Head of Sports Science Mikael Igendia said the exercise to build fitness levels of players is going on well though they need to work hard on it.

“As you know, some of these players were with their national teams while others were just working individually hence their fitness levels cannot be the same.

“In these first days, our task is to make sure that we fully assess them in terms of how they are adapting to the training programmes as we await for the second group of players to arrive,” he said.

Igenda also pointed out that it could have been better to have a six-week preseason in order to fully achieve the required fitness standards of the players.

“Here, we will have only three weeks and thereafter, we go back home where we will have one week before the commencement of the league.

“Ideally, six weeks could have been enough but basing on the current status, it is impossible to let that happen as such, we have to do our best with the time we have,” he said.

The current Simba squad will engage Singida Fountain Gate FC in their semifinal match of the newly launched Community Shield mini-tournament to be staged at Mkwakwani Stadium in Tanga on August 10th this year.

A winning side on the day will play either Young Africans or Azam in the finals slated on August 13th this year at the same venue.
