PM announces new strategies to speed up development projects and complete the stalled ones

MUGUMU: THE Tanzanian government has announced a new strategy to speed up implementation of development projects, with Prime Minister Dr Mwigulu Nchemba assuring Tanzanians that stalled projects will be revived and completed on time.

Addressing residents at Sokoine Stadium in Serengeti District, Mara Region today, the Prime Minister stated that the government has officially begun implementing the CCM 2025–2030 Election Manifesto, the 2026/2027 National Budget and the National Development Vision 2050, with a focus on delivering better services to citizens.

Additionally, the PM noted that some projects had slowed down as the government prioritised completion of major strategic investments, including the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project, JPM Bridge and the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), which are now contributing to national development.

Moreover, he announced the introduction of a new system to ensure funds collected for road development through the Road Fund are channeled directly to the fund instead of passing through the general government account.

He said the move aims at reducing delays in road construction as well as enable contractors who had left project sites to resume work and accelerate implementation of infrastructure projects, including those in Mara Region.

“From today, funds collected for road construction will go directly to the Road Fund so that road projects do not continue moving slowly,” he said.
