Makonda tables 525.32bn/- budget for the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports
DODOMA: THE Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Paul Makonda, has requested Parliament to approve a total of 525.32bn/- for the ministry’s budget for the 2026/2027 financial year, to facilitate the implementation of nine sector priorities.
This was stated today, May 4, 2026, in Parliament in Dodoma by Minister Makonda while presenting the ministry’s revenue and expenditure estimates for the 2026/2027 financial year.
He said that out of the proposed budget, 39.07bn/- will be allocated for salaries of public servants, 28.06bn/- for other recurrent expenditure, and 45.82bn/-for development projects.
Makonda said the budget will implement nine key priorities, including completing the rehabilitation, upgrading, and construction of infrastructure within the sector as well as strengthening the management of ministry operations.

Other priorities include completing preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2027) and Tanzania’s hosting of the 74th Miss World competition.
He further said the ministry will complete the revision of policies, laws, strategies, guidelines, and regulations to strengthen governance and implementation of sector responsibilities.
In addition, the budget aims to promote and develop the Kiswahili language at regional and international levels, strengthen the participation of national teams in international competitions, improve education and training in culture, arts, and sports sectors, as well as coordinate festivals and major national and international events.
