DODOMA: THE Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Paul Makonda has said that the ministry has collected 699m/- equivalent to 67.5 per cent of its target from various revenue sources as of April 2026.

The Minister disclosed this during the ongoing parliamentary session while presenting the ministry’s 2026/27 budget estimates in Dodoma adding that the figures fall short of the 1bn/- goal set for the 2025/26 financial year.

Elaborating, he said that the revenue was generated from six key sources, including the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium and Uhuru Stadium, training and examination fees from Malya Sports Development College, journalists’ accreditation cards, photo publications, posters and magazines, newspaper registration, and annual fees from 28 publications.

Furthermore, Minister Makonda attributed the shortfall mainly to reduced activities at the two major stadiums, which have been closed for renovation significantly affecting revenue collection.

“Among the reasons for missing the target is the decline in events at Benjamin Mkapa and Uhuru stadiums due to ongoing rehabilitation works,” he said.
