Tanzania finalizes preps for Africa50 Meeting, Infrastructure Forum

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA has finalized preparations to host the Africa50 Annual General Shareholders Meeting and the Africa Infrastructure Forum, scheduled to take place on August 6, 2026, at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC) in Dar es Salaam.

The high-level meeting will bring together more than 1,200 delegates from across Africa and beyond to discuss strategies for accelerating infrastructure development through strengthened Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs).

Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Albert Chalamila announced the preparations during a press briefing in the city, saying the event will be hosted by President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

According to Chalamila, participants will include Heads of State and Government, leaders of international financial institutions, Africa50 shareholders, investors, private sector executives and development partners from across the continent.

He said the forum presents a significant opportunity for Tanzania to showcase its growing position as a regional hub for trade, investment and infrastructure development.

The government is expected to present several strategic investment projects, including the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), the Port of Dar es Salaam, power generation and transmission projects, as well as Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure. The projects are aimed at attracting international investors and supporting the implementation of the Fourth Five-Year National Development Plan and Tanzania’s Development Vision 2050.

Chalamila also revealed that several African leaders are expected to attend the event, including the Presidents of Angola, Senegal, Mozambique, Nigeria, Kenya and Gabon.

The Africa50 Annual General Meeting and Infrastructure Forum is expected to strengthen regional cooperation on infrastructure financing while creating new investment opportunities to support sustainable economic growth across Africa.
