AN advocate, Mr Ally Kileo, has stressed the need for every Tanzanian to work hard so as to benefit from employment and promote economic growth.
Adv Kileo who is MDM Law Group Managing Partner said that employment is critical for the country’s development, society and individuals. According to him employment has been a source of income across the world regardless a person is employed in public or private sectors.
“In order for every citizen to benefit and promote economic growth there should be production and hard working which in actual sense is employment,” Kileo said.
Mr Kileo made the remarks this week in Dar es Salaam during the launch of his book titled ‘Comprehensive Employment and Labour Laws: Practice in Modern Business’, an event that was graced by Minister for Constitution and Legal Affairs Dr Damas Ndumbaro.
He said that without human resources there is no economic development, noting that the manpower is crucial for the nation.
Adv Kileo further called upon young and aspiring lawyers to cooperate so that they can serve Tanzanians well and realise their objectives. “True development is self development, by doing so we will be respected in the society,” he said.
Advocate Kileo said that, he expects his book to bring positive results in practice and whoever will use the book, will benefit from the analysis which has been done.
He added that policy makers, Members of Parliament and government in general will also learn something through various recommendations which have been discussed in-depth.
“The book also provides answers to various questions relating to employment,” he noted.
He said following economic growth recorded in the country both local and foreign investors can use the book as guidance on how to employ foreigners and locals in their companies. “All procedures on how to apply for work and residency permits have been thoroughly explained… I hope the book will provide answers to their questions,” he insisted.
He further expressed gratitude to Professor Chris Maina, a Law Lecturer at the University of Dar es Salaam for his immense support in his academic undertaking.
The 941 page book has been written for five years.
On his part Dr Ndumbaro said that the book is unique especially in the area of labour laws, it is not only enhancing our knowledge but also it underlines the notion of considering lawyers as academicians.
He said the book carries a special message in laws governing labour relations.
Dr Ndumbaro said that most investors worldwide when they want to invest in other areas they first look at the legal system of the respective country including labour laws.
“This is one of the areas which lacked thorough analysis for a long time but for the first time we are now having a book which responds to all concerns relating to employment and this will help investors to understand more and come to invest in our country,” Dr Ndumbaro said.
He added: “According to my views this book is going to stimulate local and foreign investment which in turn will spur economic growth.
