Tanzania sets aside 22.06bn/- for the construction of mobile CNG stations
DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzanian government has set aside a total of 22.06bn/- through the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) for the construction of mobile Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations with the aim of expanding access to natural gas across the country.
TPDC’s Gleam Ulungi made the statement in Dar es Salaam stating that the project will target regions that are not connected to the existing natural gas pipeline network by using specialised CNG trucks to transport gas from mother stations in Dar es Salaam.

Additionally, he said TPDC will construct five Mobile CNG stations, with two located in Dar es Salaam, one in Morogoro and two in Dodoma, to increase the use of natural gas in different sectors.
“We will continue identifying suitable areas and conducting environmental and social impact assessments in Tanga, Kilimanjaro and Arusha regions, where two Mobile CNG stations are planned for each region,” he said.
