PM sees progress in the 4.5bn/- Serengeti District building whose works is 42 complete

MUGUMU: PRIME MINISTER Mwigulu Nchemba has inspected the construction progress of the Serengeti District Council Administration Building, worth 4.5bn/- which is expected to improve public service delivery in the district.

Dr Nchemba visited the project earlier today, July 1, 2026, as part of his five-day working tour of Mara Region, where he is inspecting development projects, engaging with citizens and addressing challenges affecting communities across the region.

Presenting the project report, the Tanzania Building Agency (TBA) Mara Regional Architect, Nicholas Jeje, said construction of the modern office complex started on April 10, 2025 and is expected to be completed on April 9, 2028.

The Architect stated that the project has so far reached 42 per cent completion.

Elaborating on the project, he said that the building will have 62 offices, including offices for the District Executive Director and Council Chairman, as well as two meeting halls with capacities of 50 and 110 people respectively.

“This facility will improve the working environment for council staff and enhance the delivery of services to residents by providing better administrative infrastructure,” he said.

Mara Regional Commissioner Colonel Evans Mtambi welcomed the Prime Minister to the region, saying the visit will enable him to tour all six districts, nine councils and 10 constituencies in Mara.

He said during the tour, Dr Nchemba will inspect various development projects, launch completed initiatives and hold discussions with citizens to understand and address challenges affecting them.

The Prime Minister’s five-day visit to Mara runs from July 1 to July 5, 2026, and forms part of government efforts to monitor implementation of development projects and ensure they deliver intended benefits to citizens.
