Yanga, Tabora Utd ready to battle for FA Cup semis spot
DAR ES SALAAM: YOUNG Africans and Tabora United are set to battle it out today at the Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam in a CRDB Bank Federation quarterfinal clash.
Both sides target for a spot in the semifinals, with the victor poised to sketch their name in history by advancing to the first CRDB Federation Cup semifinal.
Yanga tactician, Miguel Gamondi, whose side is defending the FA Cup title acknowledged the tough challenge that lies ahead of the newcomers Tabora United however he affirmed their readiness to deliver another captivating performance.
“In cup games, it is always about 90 minutes, and we expect a tough game. But we are well-prepared and ready to put on a fantastic performance and expressed gratitude for having a hungry and motivated squad,” he disclosed.
Gamondi attributed success of his squad to having quality players who are united and eager to battle for the honour of their club and themselves.

Regarding technical tactical preparations Gamondi emphasized their readiness to adapt to any conditions, focusing on timely possession, creating scoring opportunities, and converting them.
“When facing a team that deploys a defensive setup, our focus is on creating space and chances,” he elaborated.
Tabora United’s Assistant Coach, Masoud Djuma, said he expects a tough game but added he believed that their respect for Young Africans will instill confidence and lead to a good performance.
“Respecting your opponent, playing with focus, avoiding mistakes, and staying calm during the game will ensure a safe finish,” he explained. Masoud urged their supporters to turn out in numbers to support their team, emphasizing the importance of their support in boosting morale.
“We need our fans’ incredible support as our team is in good spirits and ready to face Young Africans,” he emphasized.
In other CRDB Bank Federation Cup quarterfinals games fixture today, Coastal Union will battle it with Geita Gold at Mkwakwani Stadium in Tanga, while Ihefu will host Mashujaa FC from Kigoma in a highly anticipated encounter at Liti Stadium in Singida.
Meanwhile, Young Africans have been barred from registering players until they settle their dues to former Zambian international player Lazarus Kambole who is currently on a loan spell at ZESCO United of Zambia.
This decision was made by FIFA after Kambole won a case he filed against the club for unpaid wages and contract termination compensation.
According to the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) statement which was released yesterday, Yanga was required to settle the payment within 45 days from the decision date, which they failed to abide by.
Therefore, FIFA has imposed a ban on the club from international transfers, and TFF has also prohibited them from domestic transfers.
TFF reminds clubs to honour contracts with players and coaches to avoid various penalties, including registration bans.
