VETA funds benefit 3,000 Women in Dodoma

DODOMA: THE Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) has funded short-term training programs for over 3,000 women in Dodoma, as part of an initiative aimed at empowering women and enhancing their skills. The training is being conducted through the ‘Wanawake na Samia’ Group, which works to uplift women in the region.

During the launch of the program, Dodoma Regional Commissioner, Rosemary Senyamule, expressed her gratitude to VETA’s Executive Director, CPA Anthony Kasore, for sponsoring the initiative.

Senyamule highlighted the critical importance of vocational training for women, stating that many women in the region lack the necessary skills to either start their own businesses or secure employment. She emphasized that this training program would provide valuable opportunities for economic independence and self-sufficiency.

Senyamule also pointed out that Dodoma is rapidly developing into a major tourist destination and government service hub. “Dodoma is now a tourist city, and many people are coming for government services, with some arriving from various countries.

Therefore, we need to provide services of international standards, which are possible only if we receive proper training,” she said, underscoring the importance of skilled workers in the region.

Fatuma Madidi, Chairperson of the Wanawake na Samia Group in the Dodoma Region, thanked VETA for offering this valuable training opportunity to women in the area.

“If you educate a woman, you educate the entire community,” she said. Madidi assured the authorities that the women would make the most of the training, committing to learn with diligence and dedication.

VETA’s Executive Director, CPA Anthony Kasore, expressed his belief that the skills acquired through this training would enable the women to engage in productive activities, ultimately generating income and contributing to their community’s economic growth.

This initiative aligns with broader efforts in Tanzania to enhance women’s participation in the workforce and promote gender equality through education and skill development. VETA’s involvement in this program is seen as a crucial step in equipping women with the tools they need to succeed in their careers.
