TZ volleyball star Bure bids farewell to Rukinzo after three remarkable years

BURUNDI: IN a heartfelt message that resonated deeply with fans, one of the Tanzania professional volleyball players officially announced his departure from Rukinzo Volleyball Club of Burundi.
His announcement brought to an end a memorable three-year journey marked by growth, dedication and unwavering passion in Burundi.
The athlete whose name remains synonymous with Rukinzo’s recent rise, took to social media to thank the people of Rukinzo for what he described as a life-changing experience.
“I can’t explain how fast this day has come, but it is finally here. It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to you after three great years of travelling, drinking milk after training sessions, winning and losing, but on top of that, learning!” he wrote.
The received attacker reflected on his transformation during his time at the club, crediting Rukinzo for shaping him from a boy into the man he is today.
He expressed deep gratitude for the support and warmth that made him feel at home. He extended special thanks to Club president Emile Maanisha, head coach Gahungu J. Marie, his fellow teammates and fans for allowing him to pursue what he loves most.
“You will always have a special place in my heart and I hope one day, our paths will cross once again,” he added, ending with the Kirundi phrase “Urakoze cane n’ivyiza vyose”, which translates to “Thank you very much for everything.”
Though his next destination remains undisclosed, the player hinted that he is ready for a new challenge and growth opportunity, signalling the next chapter in his volleyball career.
He told the ‘Daily News’ that the discussions are ongoing and details will be revealed once finalised. “Yes, everything is going well, but nothing is confirmed yet. I’ll make it public once everything is finalised,” he insisted.
Bure made a lasting impression in Bujumbura, stealing the spotlight with multiple Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards in the Association de Volleyball Bujumbura (AVAB) League.
His standout performance earned him the MVP title for the second time in 2024, following his first win in 2023 during his debut year
