TRA United launch ‘Shamra Shamra’ Week
AUSHA: TRA United FC has launched ‘Shamra Shamra’ Week, featuring various community and public awareness activities ahead of its first home match against Dodoma Jiji on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
The match will also be used to introduce the club’s players for the 2026/2027 season.
Speaking here ,Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) Arusha Regional Manager, Deogratius Shuma, said the club uses football as a platform to promote voluntary tax compliance and educate the public on the importance of paying taxes and demanding receipts.
He said TRA established the team because football is widely followed, making it easier for the authority to deliver tax compliance messages to the public.
“Besides promoting voluntary tax compliance, the team was also established to nurture young talents and demonstrate the benefits generated from tax revenue,” he said.
Mr Shuma said through TRA United, the authority will also continue providing education on various systems used to simplify tax payment and administration.
TRA United Information Officer, Christina Mwagala, said ‘Shamra Shamra’ Week will feature various activities, including street campaigns and community outreach programmes.
She said from Thursday to Friday, the team will conduct awareness campaigns in different parts of Arusha City, visit football institutions and provide support to orphaned children.
“We have been carrying out community outreach activities, but in many cases without involving the media because we believe it is part of our contribution to the community,” she said.

Mwagala said the team has started the season with three away matches, collecting two points after drawing 1-1 against JKT Tanzania, losing 2-1 to Azam FC and drawing against Coastal Union in Tanga.
She said although the results have not met the club’s expectations, the season is still at an early stage and the team remains optimistic about performing well in its home matches.
After the match against Dodoma Jiji, TRA United will host Mbeya City in another home fixture on September 4.
