TRA United target title challenge, dismiss Chobwedo exit reports

ARUSHA: TRA United have set out to win either the Mainland Premier League or the Federation Cup in the 2026/27 season, and dismiss reports linking midfielder Ramadhan Chobwedo with a move away from the club.

The Arusha-based side say they are planning to strengthen the squad during the transfer window as they seek to build on last season’s campaign.

Club information officer Christina Mwagala said the management was working to recruit players capable of helping the team compete for honours.

“We are preparing for a very competitive season. The management is working on signings that will strengthen every department of the team,” Mwagala told this newspaper. “Our target is not just to participate. We want to finish in a respectable position in the league and challenge for trophies.

Every club starts the season with ambitions, and ours is to compete with the best.” Mwagala said the club had identified areas for improvement after reviewing last season’s performances.

“We have learned a lot from the previous campaign. The technical bench and management have identified areas that need improvement, and we are confident the team will be stronger next season.” She said.

TRA United aim to challenge defending league champions Young Africans and compete for the Federation Cup, won by Simba last season.

“We respect Young Africans and Simba because they are big clubs with strong traditions, but football is about competition. Our goal is to challenge for the league title and fight for the Federation Cup as well.” Mwagala also rejected speculation linking Chobwedo with a move to Simba, insisting the midfielder remains part of the club’s plans.

“Those rumours are not true. Chobwedo is still a TRA United player and he has a valid contract with the club.” “At the moment, our focus is on preparing for the new season, not transfer rumours. He remains an important member of our squad.”
