Tanzania’s Samatta wins the French Ligue 1 Player of April award

PARIS: TANZANIAN international player, Mbwana Ally Samatta has been named Player of the Month for April 2026 at his club, Le Havre AC, which competes in France’s top-tier Ligue 1.

During the month, Samatta scored two goals that contributed to his improving form within the team.

He netted his first goal on April 12, 2026, in a Ligue 1 match that ended in a 1-1 draw, marking his first goal since joining Le Havre.

He scored his second goal in a match against FC Metz, finding the back of the net in the fifth minute in a high-scoring game that ended 4-4.

With this achievement, Samatta continues to make history as the first Tanzanian to score in two of Europe’s top leagues—the English Premier League, during his time at Aston Villa, and now Ligue 1 with Le Havre AC.
