Tanzania, Switzerland explore ways to cement ties in trade, investment, skills development, institutional cooperation

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Dr Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, has held talks with Switzerland’s Deputy Secretary-General of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and Head of the Sub-Saharan Africa and Francophone Countries Division, Ambassador Philipp Stalder, on ways to strengthen relations and cooperation between Tanzania and Switzerland.

The talks, held in Dar es Salaam, focused on strengthening trade and investment, skills development and institutional cooperation between the two countries.

Speaking during the meeting, Minister Kombo stressed the importance of continuing to provide opportunities for training and knowledge exchange, while strengthening cooperation among universities, research institutions and the private sectors of Tanzania and Switzerland.

He also highlighted opportunities for Swiss companies and financial institutions to participate in infrastructure projects connecting Tanzania with regional markets.

For his part, Ambassador Stalder expressed Switzerland’s readiness to facilitate partnerships among institutions, universities and business communities in the two countries, with the aim of advancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
