Tanzania supports the construction of a cardiac unit at KCMC

MOSHI: THE Deputy Minister for Health, Dr Florence Samizi, has said the construction project of the Cardiac Treatment Unit at the Northern Regional Hospital ( Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre) will help reduce patient referrals abroad as well as reduce medical costs for Tanzanian citizens.
Dr Samizi KCMC has been a key partner in the implementation of health sector policies and plans by providing expert and specialist services, training for health professionals as well as conducting research that contributes to improving health services for citizens.
She explained this when she represented the Minister of Health, Mohamed Mchengerwa at the 55th anniversary of the hospital and the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of the Cardiac Treatment Unit (Cardiac Centre) in the Kilimanjaro region.

“We commend KCMC Hospital for its significant contribution to strengthening health services in the country since its official establishment on March 6, 1971, by the late Father of the Nation, Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere,” said Dr Samizi.
She said that the government will continue to strengthen cooperation with the hospital through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) system with the aim of increasing access to quality health services and reducing medical costs for the citizens.
In addition, Dr Samizi said that the Sixth Phase Government has placed great priority on strengthening the health sector to ensure that citizens receive quality and acceptable quality services.
She also called on development stakeholders, the private sector, financial institutions, as well as Tanzanians both inside and outside the country to support efforts to raise resources for the acquisition of modern medical equipment to be used in the unit.
