Tanzania sees its clean cooking energy as a healthy, transformative shift

VIENNA: THE Tanzanian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Vienna, Naimi S.H. Aziz, has said that clean cooking energy in institutions is a transformative shift that goes beyond energy, delivering wide-ranging benefits for health, environmental sustainability, economic growth, and education.

She made the statement while presenting Tanzania’s Clean Cooking Strategy at the International Clean Energy Day organized by Sustainable Energy For All (SEforALL) in Vienna.

In her remarks, the Ambassador stated that Tanzania has significantly increased the application of renewable energy technologies and natural gas in the electricity generation mix to 60 percent.

Additionally, she highlighted natural gas as a growing, important transition fuel not only for power generation but also in transforming cooking to clean cooking, CNG in vehicles as well as industrial applications.

She further commended SEforALL initiatives in Tanzania and the partnership of the UKAid and WFP in equipping 50 schools with clean cooking solutions in Tanzania.

The Envoy reassured Tanzania’s commitment to expanding modern cooking solutions and welcomed cooperation with all development partners.
