Tanzania, Qatar’s Al Mansour Group seek to deepen ties in mining, technology transfer, value addition to natural resources

DOHA: TANZANIA and Qatar’s Al Mansour Group are in discussions aimed at expanding cooperation in mining, agriculture, and industrial development, with a focus on boosting investment, technology transfer, and value addition to the country’s natural resources.
This happened during discussions between a technical team from the Ministry of Minerals led by Engineer Modest Apolinary and the Chairman of Al Mansour Group, Sheikh Mansour Bin Jabour Bin Jassim Al Thani, a member of the Qatari royal family.
The discussions are part of Tanzania’s continued efforts to attract strategic investors, following a visit by Minerals Minister Anthony Mavunde to Qatar in February 2026.
During their talks, the leaders explored broad areas of collaboration, including training and knowledge exchange for mining professionals in mineral exploration, drilling technologies, project management, and financial literacy.

“The partnership is expected to strengthen technical capacity and improve efficiency in the implementation of mining projects across Tanzania. The ministry is fully prepared to collaborate in exploration, mining, and value addition to ensure both sides benefit from this partnership,” he said.
In a related development, the two sides also discussed potential investment in fertilizer production using locally available raw materials, an initiative expected to increase fertilizer availability, reduce production costs for farmers, and contribute to agricultural growth and national food security.
Tanzania’s Ambassador to Qatar, Habibu Mohamed, described Tanzania as a stable and attractive investment destination, citing its favourable policies and strong legal frameworks.
“We welcome Al Mansour Group to invest in Tanzania and take advantage of the wide opportunities available in mining, industry, and agriculture,” he said.
The Managing Director of the State Mining Corporation (STAMICO), Dr Venance Mwasse, said the corporation is also ready to partner with the company, noting that the collaboration will promote investment, modern mining technology, research, and increased contribution of the mining sector to the national economy.
