In another development, Dr Bashiru said the acquisition of the country’s first deep-sea fishing vessel marks a strategic step toward strengthening the Tanzania Fisheries Corporation (TAFICO) and utilizing blue economy opportunities to promote modern and productive fishing operations.

He said the vessel is the first to be owned by the government through TAFICO and will be operated under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement for deep-sea fishing activities.
