Tanzania eyes 50 percent implementation of national deep geological survey plan

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Minerals Minister, Anthony Mavunde, has announced that the government is committed to achieving 50 percent implementation of the national deep geological survey plan by 2030.

 The initiative aims to strengthen the mining sector by providing accurate and up-to-date data.

Speaking today at the signing ceremony of the Special Program for Small-Scale Miners, Minister Mavunde stated that Tanzania is in the final stages of launching a major geological survey project covering an area of approximately 165,474 square kilometers, equivalent to 18% of the country’s total land area.

He explained that the country has been divided into 322 specialized survey blocks (KDS) to facilitate the efficient collection and analysis of geological data.

Urging small-scale miners and stakeholders in the mining sector, Minister Mavunde emphasized that the program aims to provide reliable geological information, enabling better investment decisions and increased production.

Furthermore, Minister Mavunde clarified that the government is in the final stages of purchasing specialized aerial survey helicopters, a move expected to reduce research costs, accelerate data collection, and simplify mining operations, especially in areas with hard rock formations or infrastructure challenges.

  1. This is an excellent initiative for the betterments of mining sector grow meanwhile we are doing this we have to remove all Chines in our Forest busy doing small mining business this not good. We expect outside investor to have muscles on big investment like Barrick.Can employ even our people not like Chines do.
    Leave small mining for Nationals only.Please clean our Forest,remove those people in our forest and implement strategic rules for external investors like other Countries in the world.
