Some 285bn/- spent on medics equipment nationwide, Bunge told

DODOMA: FOR the past five years, the government has disbursed 285.6bn/- for the procurement of medical equipment, significantly improving provision of health services in the country.

Deputy Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG) Mr Reuben Kwagilwa said yesterday that the medical equipment, include delivery (maternity) equipment, for primary-level healthcare facilities.

“The government is working tirelessly to keep improving health services in the country and in five-year period from the 2021/22 to 2024/25 financial years, the government disbursed a total of 285.6bn/- for the procurement of medical equipment,” he told the National Assembly.

He said in the 2025/26 financial year, the government has allocated 32bn/- for the procurement of medical equipment for primary-level healthcare facilities. Out of the amount, he said 9.6bn/- has been allocated for the procurement of medical equipment in council hospitals across the country.

The deputy minister was responding to a question by Mr Hija Hassan Hija (Kiwani– CCM) who asked when will the government supply sufficient medical equipment, particularly delivery (maternity) equipment, to all hospitals in the country.

“In the 2025/26 financial year, the government has allocated 32bn/- for the procurement of medical equipment for primary-level healthcare facilities, including 9.6bn/- specifically for council hospitals across the country,” he said.
