Simba start league campaign against Kagera Sugar
BUKOBA: SIMBA SC will begin their 2026/27 Tanzania Mainland Premier League campaign today in Bukoba to face the newly promoted Kagera Sugar at Kaitaba Stadium.
The match will provide Simba with first opportunity to collect points in the new Premier League season after losing 1-0 to defending champions Young Africans in the Community Shield duel at the New Amaan Complex in Zanzibar.
Simba finished second in the 2024/25 campaign, behind champions Yanga, after collecting 78 points from 30 matches.
Their opponents, Kagera Sugar, return to the top flight after spending the 2025/26 season in the Championship League.
The Bukoba-based side were relegated from the Premier League after finishing 15th out of 16 teams in the 2024/25 season.
Kagera will be looking to make a strong return to the Premier League, particularly in front of their home supporters.

The fixture will also renew a competitive meeting between the two sides. In their previous Premier League encounter at Kaitaba Stadium in December 2024, Simba recorded a 5-2 victory, with Shomary Kapombe, Jean Charles Ahoua, Fabrice Ngoma and Stephen Mukwala getting on the scoresheet.
Meanwhile, JKT Tanzania will host TRA United in another opening-round fixture at the Major General Isamuhyo Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
