Simba pleased by steady progress at Mkapa Stadium ahead of final

DAR ES SALAAM: FINAL touches are being made at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium as Simba SC prepare to host RS Berkane of Morocco in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final on May 25.
The stadium is currently undergoing targeted upgrades to meet the standards required for hosting a continental final. Club officials conducted an inspection on Thursday to assess the progress of ongoing improvements.
The upgrades include enhancements to the pitch surface and fixing new spectators seats.
“There are improvements being done at the pitch area, the upgrade is in line with the CAF Confederation Cup final. The condition is good and all preparations are going well. We want to make sure everything is in place and ready in time,” said Simba SC Board Member, Issa Masoud during the inspection.

He also confirmed that a CAF inspection team is currently in Tanzania and will conduct a thorough evaluation of the venue.
“A team of inspectors from CAF has arrived in the country this week to conduct a thorough assessment of the stadium’s facilities. The inspection includes evaluating the pitch condition, dressing rooms, spectator areas, technical infrastructure and overall safety standards,” he noted.
Masoud added that hosting the final in Dar es Salaam will be a great honour. Masoud urged Simba fans and Tanzanian football lovers at large to prepare for what could be a historic event.
“There is a high possibility that the final will be played here. The fans should get ready we may witness history being made right here in Dar es Salaam.”
