DODOMA: President Samia Suluhu Hassan has called on judges of the Court of Appeal to uphold the principles of justice as enshrined in the national Constitution, emphasizing the importance of delivering justice efficiently and effectively.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of four newly appointed appellate judges held on Wednesday at the State House in Dodoma, President Samia highlighted that their appointments were a reflection of their outstanding performance and dedication to service.
She reminded the judiciary of its constitutional mandate under Article 107 Section A, which grants it sole responsibility for delivering justice independently.
President Samia emphasized that this independence should be exercised with accountability and responsibility, urging judges to adhere strictly to the principles outlined in the Constitution to ensure timely and effective justice for all.
“Last year, during the Law Day celebrations, I emphasized the importance of following the principles of justice outlined in Article 107 Section A, subsections (a) to (e). If these principles are observed at all levels, from the grassroots to the top, justice will be delivered promptly and effectively, “she noted.
The newly appointed judges include Justice Latifa Alhinai Mansoor, Justice George Masaju, Justice Dr. Deo Nangela, and Justice Dr. Stephen Simbachawene.
Others who took their oaths of office included Dr. Grace Magembe, the Chief Government Medical Officer, Prof. Mohamed Janabi, the President’s Advisor on Health and Medical Affairs, Mr. Merick Enock Luvinga, Assistant Secretary to the Ministry Cabinet, and Engineer Ramadhani Lwamo, Executive Secretary of the Ethics Commission.

During the ceremony, President Samia also tasked Dr. Grace Magembe to enhance the management of disease outbreaks to protect the nation from potential health crises.
Additionally, she urged all leaders and public servants to embrace accountability and deliver tangible results in their roles.
“I urge you to become game changers in your respective fields. Deliver tangible results. We have no time to move backward; I ask you to be accountable,” she said.
She alsocommended the Chief Justice for implementing reforms aimed at improving justice delivery, particularly through the use of technology.
On his part, Vice President Dr. Philip Mpango noted that the appointments are intended to improve access to justice for all citizens.
Chief Justice Prof. Ibrahim Juma expressed gratitude to the President for increasing the number of appellate judges from 35 to 39, which has also expanded the number of appellate panels from 11 to 12.
