Over 30 countries join golden jubilee Dar International Trade Fair
DAR ES SALAAM: MORE than 30 countries are expected to participate in this year’s Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), which marks the Golden Jubilee of the annual exhibition, as preparations gather momentum ahead of the event scheduled for the end of next month.
The annual exhibition, known as sabasaba, is organised by the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) and runs from June 28 to July 13. This year marks 50 years of the exhibition, which has grown into one of the region’s leading trade and investment platforms.
TanTrade Director General, Dr Latifa Khamis, told ‘Daily News’ yesterday that at least 27 countries have already confirmed participation in the landmark exhibition. “We are waiting confirmation from other three countries,” said Dr Khamis.
Among the countries that have confirmed attendance are Palestine, Algeria, Egypt, Indonesia, China and Kenya. Other participating countries include Turkey, India, Singapore, Syria, Japan, Iran, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Others are Zambia, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Ghana, Korea, Russia, Rwanda, Comoros, Mauritius, Oman, Mozambique, Italy and others.
“We have intensified awareness efforts among business communities and countries, which has significantly increased international participation in this year’s exhibition,” she said.

She noted that they will continue to introduce special corporate days for each participating country, aimed at creating more opportunities for networking, trade promotion and investment partnerships.
“Having corporate days for each country participating in the exhibition has attracted more participants because it creates room for countries to showcase their products, services and investment opportunities in a more organised way,” Dr Khamis explained.
She added that the arrangement is intended to meet the growing demand for participation while creating a business-friendly platform where companies, investors and traders from different sectors can engage directly and conclude business deals.
“This will provide a unique platform where local and foreign businesspeople can interact, establish partnerships and explore investment opportunities,” she stressed.
The Golden Jubilee exhibition is expected to focus on industrial transformation, innovation, technology and trade promotion, while also showcasing Tanzania’s economic progress over the past five decades.
The exhibition is anticipated to attract thousands of exhibitors, investors and visitors from within and outside the country, reinforcing Tanzania’s position as a regional trade and investment hub.
