Indonesia’s PT Pertamina seeks to invest in Tanzania’s energy and industrial sectors

JAKARTA: INDONESIA’S state-owned energy company, PT Pertamina (Persero), is exploring investment opportunities in Tanzania, particularly in the energy and industrial sectors, including the utilisation and value addition of natural gas resources.

The development emerged during talks between Tanzania’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Macocha Tembele, and a delegation from Pertamina in Jakarta.

The Pertamina delegation was led by M. Irzan Syuhada, Senior Business Development Specialist and Acting Vice-President for Business Development in International Markets.

According to information from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperations, the discussions focused on potential areas of cooperation and investment, with Pertamina expressing interest in continuing to explore opportunities in Tanzania and the possibility of developing projects that could deliver mutual economic benefits.

During the talks, Ambassador Tembele welcomed the company’s interest and assured the delegation of the Embassy’s readiness to facilitate communication between Pertamina and relevant institutions in Tanzania to advance discussions on potential investment opportunities.

The meeting was also attended by Dewi Justicia, Director for Africa at Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Both sides agreed to maintain communication and consultations to identify and develop areas of cooperation capable of strengthening economic relations and investment ties between Tanzania and Indonesia.
