Nkya, Nathwani win Lina Tour Moshi TPC Series

KILIMANJARO: FADHIL Nkya and Jay Nathwani emerged champions in the professional and elite amateur categories respectively at the 2025 Lina PG Tour Moshi TPC Series, after four intense rounds and 72 holes of competitive golf.

The four-day tournament that brings together top professional and elite amateur golfers across the country ended over the weekend at the TPC Moshi Club in the Kilimanjaro region.

Nkya, representing Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club (DGC), continued his stellar form with back-to-back wins on the Lina Tour.

Leading from the first round, he entered Sunday’s final day with a 3-under total and closed with a +4 final round to finish at +1 overall, securing the professional title, adding to the first Series held at Morogoro Gymkhana Club early this year.

Abdallah Yusuph of Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF), Lugalo Golf Club of Dar es Salaam, took second place with a consistent performance, finishing at +6 overall after a final round (+3).

Arusha Gymkhana Club (AGC’s) John Leonce fired the best round among pros on Sunday with a 69 (-3), climbing to tie for third at +9 with Frank Mwinuka (Lugalo), who closed with a +6 total. Elisante Lembris (AGC) rounded out the top five with +11.

In the elite amateur field, AGC’s Jay Nathwani delivered a dominant performance, finishing 3-under-par for the tournament. His even-par final round secured him not only the amateur title but also the lowest score of the entire field.

Lugalo’s Isiaka Daudi finished runner-up among amateurs at +6, while clubmate Enosh Wanyenche placed third at +8. Host golfer Ally Isanzu improved with a +2 final round, ending fourth among amateurs at +14.

The 2025 Moshi TPC Series highlighted strong showings across both categories, with amateurs proving they could challenge the pros.

The Lina PG Tour, founded in 2024 by the Said Nkya family in collaboration with the Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU), the Tanzania Professional Golfers Association (TPGA), and Penda Golf Tanzania, honours the legacy of Lina Said Nkya, a passionate TLGU official and former national team player who passed away in 2021.

The tour promotes golf development and is a crucial platform for elite amateur winners to earn World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points.
