National Maulid Day celebrations to be held in Geita
GEITA: The national-level celebration to mark the birth of Prophet Mohammed [Peace Be Upon Him], commonly known as Maulid, is scheduled to take place at the CCM Kalangalala grounds in Geita.
The National Muslim Council of Tanzania (Bakwata)’s Thursday statement signed by its Secretary General, Sheikh Nuhu Mruma said that the celebrations would start on Sunday September 15, 2024 evening until Monday.
Sheikh Mruma revealed that the celebrations will be followed by Maulid Council which will be held on Monday at the same ground.

The guest of honor for the occasion is expected to be President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
According to the statement, Monday, September 16, 2024, has been declared a public holiday in honor of the celebration.
“On behalf of Bakwata, the Mufti of Tanzania, Sheikh Abubakar Zubeir, wishes all Muslims a happy Maulid celebration and a pleasant holiday,” said Sheikh Mruma.
