President Samia shares Maulid message
As Tanzanian Muslims join their fellows around the world to celebrate Mawlid al-Nabi, the anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad’s birth, President Samia Suluhu Hassan says it is a high time for believers to contemplate how they can strengthen their relationship with God.
Conveying Maulid message through her X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, the Head of State stressed on the need for people to be reborn in heart and actions since altogether are vital sources for a sustainable development country, security, peace and unity.
“May it be a reflection and effort to continue to be reborn in improving our relationships with God, our relationships with our fellow humans, and our responsibilities to our fellow humans, our country and our Creator. The result of these intentions and efforts will continue to grant us a country a progressive development and safe country that has integrity, peace, unity and solidarity,” reads part of her post.
Mawlid is commemorated on the 12th day of Rabi al-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar.
Some Muslims commemorate the event because of the pivotal role played by Prophet Muhammad in Islam.
The faithful believe that the Quran, God’s final testament to mankind, was revealed to the prophet, and that he was the most important messenger sent to humanity.
In Tanzania the celebrations started on Wednesday evening, until Thursday, October 28, 2023, which has been declared a public holiday.
