Tanzania engages stakeholders to review the draft of public assets

DODOMA: THE Ministry of Finance has continued efforts to strengthen the management of government assets by engaging stakeholders in reviewing the draft Government Assets Management Regulations and Guidelines, which aim to establish a strong framework for protecting, maintaining, utilising and developing public assets for the benefit of the nation.

The initiative is part of broader efforts to promote accountability in the management of public resources, safeguard government assets against unproductive use, and ensure they are properly utilised to support government operations and improve service delivery to citizens.

During a consultative meeting held in Dodoma, the ministry collected views and recommendations from representatives of public institutions, the private sector and development partners to ensure the draft document addresses operational needs and practical challenges in government asset management.

Speaking at the meeting, the Director of the Government Assets Management Department at the Ministry of Finance, Chotto Sendo, said effective management of government assets was essential for preserving the value of public resources, improving their utilisation and ensuring they contribute to the implementation of national development priorities.
