TANZANIA: THE Mainland Premier League resumes today after a two-week international break, with Simba set to face Pamba Jiji at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza.

League leaders, Simba, will aim to extend their lead at the top as they clash with hosts Pamba, who are eager to make a statement against one of Tanzania’s top clubs.

Ahead of the match, Simba Head Coach, Fadlu Davids, expressed confidence in his team’s readiness, despite the interruptions caused by the international break. He emphasised that the FIFA calendar did not hinder their preparations.

“The FIFA calendar did not disturb anything. My players are well-prepared for the encounter, even though most (of his players) have been involved in international duty. They are physically fit and ready,” stated Davids.

He also acknowledged the quality of their opponents, noting that Pamba can execute quick and effective attacks.

“We respect Pamba because they are a strong team. With the new coach in charge, they can score in three to four passes. We know it’s going to be a tough match, but we are focused on securing the points,” he said.

Davids called on Simba’s passionate fans to show up in full force, highlighting the motivation players draw from their support. “Our fans are a key source of motivation. I urge them to come in large numbers and cheer us on,” he added.

On the other side, Pamba Jiji’s Head Coach, Fred Felix Minziro, acknowledged Simba’s status as one of the giants of Tanzanian football, but made it clear that his team is ready for the challenge.

“We have a lot of respect for Simba as one of the big clubs in Tanzania, but we also have quality players. We are prepared to face them and put on a good performance,” Minziro said.

He emphasised that fans should expect an exciting match, with both teams boasting talented players. “Fans should come out and witness a high-quality match. It’s going to be an exciting spectacle,” he added.

Simba, looking to maintain their impressive form after the international break, will aim for a win to stay at the top of the table.

Meanwhile, Pamba Jiji will seek to secure valuable points to improve their position in the league standings.

Currently, Simba lead the league with 25 points, just one point ahead of their arch-rivals Young Africans, who sit on second place with 24 points.

Pamba Jiji occupy 15th place with 8 points, three points clear of bottom-placed KenGold. The stage is set for what promises to be a thrilling encounter, with both teams eager to make their mark.
