Tanzanians urged to seize economic opportunities from the 2027 AFCON, Miss World 2027 pageant

NJOMBE: THE Tanzanian government spokesperson and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Gerson Msigwa has urged public information officers across the country to mobilise citizens to seize economic opportunities expected from the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the Miss World 2027 pageant, both of which will be hosted in Tanzania.

The PS made the call on Thursday when representing the Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Paul Makonda, at the opening of the 21st annual meeting of government information, communication, protocol and public relations officers in Njombe Region.

Speaking at the meeting, Msigwa stated that Tanzania’s successful bid to host the two major international events presents a wide range of business and investment opportunities that wananchi should be prepared to benefit from.

According to the Permanent Secretary, it is the responsibility of information officers to educate and sensitise the public on how to tap into opportunities linked to tourism, hospitality, transport, trade and other sectors expected to gain from the events.

The meeting, which runs until May 10, brought together government communication officials to discuss strategies for improving public communication and strengthening citizen engagement on national priorities.
