Kikwete orders public servants to undergo induction training after reporting to their stations

DODOMA: THE Minister of State in the President’s Office, Public Service Management and Good Governance, Ridhiwani Kikwete has said that newly recruited public servants must undergo induction training within three months of reporting to their duty stations.

The minister’s directives aim to strengthen efficiency and continuity in public service delivery.

Mr Kikwete issued the directives today, June 1, 2026 when opening a working session for Heads of Administration and Human Resource Units from ministries, independent departments, executive agencies, public institutions, and local government authorities.

According to the minister, all employers in the public sector must ensure that orientation training for new employees is completed within the first three months of deployment, in line with Circular No. 5 of 2011 on induction training for public servants.

Emphasizing, he instructed that staff who missed the opportunity for initial induction be placed under special arrangements to ensure they are trained at a later stage.

“Once the training is completed, institutions must submit reports to the President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance for monitoring and compliance,” he said.

Additionally, he directed employers to strengthen human resource planning and succession frameworks, stressing the need for structured handover systems within government institutions.

“When we talk about succession planning, we mean building cadres where even if one officer leaves, another can immediately take over. This must be implemented across departments and institutions to ensure continuity,” he said.
