THE Public-Private Partnership Centre (PPPC) has launched a new initiative aimed at identifying potential projects that can be implemented under the PPP model across 12 regions in the country.
These regions include Coast, Mtwara, Morogoro, Tanga, Simiyu, Kilimanjaro, Mbeya, Songwe, Mwanza, Kigoma, Dodoma, and Arusha, along with their respective local government authorities, according to the PPPC’s statement issued today.
The primary objective of this initiative is to develop a comprehensive pipeline of PPP projects that will drive sustainable development while fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors.
As part of the initiative, several activities will be undertaken to ensure the effective identification and implementation of viable projects.
One of the key components is conducting extensive training sessions for regional secretariats and local government authorities to enhance their understanding of the PPP concept.
These training sessions will equip officials with the necessary knowledge and skills to identify, prepare, and manage projects that can be executed through public-private partnerships.
In addition to the training, the initiative will involve a systematic process of identifying projects that meet the criteria for PPP implementation.
Once suitable projects have been identified, detailed concept notes will be developed to provide a clear framework for their execution.
The PPPC will then proceed to announce the selected projects through public platforms to attract potential investors who may be interested in participating in their implementation.
Furthermore, a technological approach will be incorporated into the initiative by mapping the proposed projects using Geographic Information System (GIS) technology.
This will enable stakeholders to visualize the locations and feasibility of the projects in a more efficient and data-driven manner, enhancing planning and decision-making processes.
The entire exercise is scheduled to take place over a 28-day period and will involve a team of experts, including university lecturers, officials from the President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (TAMISEMI), and specialists from the PPPC.

These professionals will work closely with local government authorities in the targeted regions to provide technical support, conduct assessments, and facilitate the development of projects that align with the government’s strategic goals.
Through this initiative, the government seeks to create a more conducive investment environment by encouraging private sector participation in the implementation of key development projects.
By leveraging the expertise and financial capabilities of private entities, the government aims to accelerate economic growth, improve infrastructure, and enhance the quality of public services offered to citizens.
