ARUSHA: THE Indian government is offering scholarships for 1,000 young people from Arusha to study in India, covering over 220 academic programmes.
Due to good cooperation ties between Tanzania and India, hundreds of young people have turned up in large numbers at the regional offices to participate in the screening process for scholarships to study in India.
The youth of Arusha region have positively responded after the announcement was made by Arusha’s Regional Commissioner, Paul Makonda, at a conference held to commemorate President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s four years in office.
During the launch of the screening process, Makonda emphasised the importance of youth seizing such opportunities to foster personal and national development and the Indian government under the Indian High Commissioner to Tanzania, Bishwadip Dey.
“This is a great opportunity for the youth of Arusha to receive quality education abroad, especially in India, which is renowned for its excellence in various fields of study,” said Makonda.
In another facet of this partnership, the Indian government has also extended scholarships for 50 entrepreneurs from Arusha to study culinary arts in India.

The goal is to enable them to learn Indian cuisine and the country’s diverse cultural traditions, to improve services for Indian tourists visiting Tanzania.
The young people who participated in the screening process expressed their excitement for this unique opportunity, saying it represents a significant step toward achieving their educational and developmental goals.
