Geita Gold midfielder Masota returns after injury layoff

DAR ES SALAAM: GEITA Gold midfielder, Raymond Masota has rejoined the club following more than a year out with a knee injury.

Masota, who signed a six month contract on 8 January from Stand United, will provide additional options as Geita Gold aim to strengthen their promotion push.

The 26-year-old suffered a knee injury on 21 December 2023 while playing for Geita Gold in the Tanzanian Premier League, which required surgery and kept him out of action for over a year.

He spent the early part of the current season with Stand United to rebuild fitness and match sharpness. Speaking after his return, Masota said he was focused on helping the team and taking his chance on the field.

“I wanted a team that would believe in me and give me a chance to show my ability after the injury. Geita Gold is competitive and has high ambitions, so I come with new energy and I promise to deliver,” he said.

Masota is a versatile player capable of operating as a winger, attacking midfielder or right-back.

His return is expected to give Geita Gold greater flexibility as they compete in the second half of the season.

The club’s management welcomed his return, noting his experience and familiarity with the team would support both the squad and the club’s promotion objectives.
