Futopia adds health and wellness to festival mix

ZANZIBAR: FUTOPIA Festival 2026 introduced a dedicated health and wellness zone, allowing visitors to focus on their physical and mental wellbeing alongside music, food and entertainment.
The Afya Zone offered activities ranging from healthy smoothies and wellness sessions to breathing exercises and head massages as part of the festival programme.
During the festival, Dr Jenny Dietzold, the Urban Care founder, said health is an important part of everyday life and that the zone was designed to encourage visitors to pay greater attention to nutrition, relaxation and mental wellbeing.
“Health is important,” she said, adding that the initiative promotes the idea that good health also begins with what people eat.
The zone is also working with Sebule Spa, whose therapist is offering visitors short scalp massages to help them relax before joining the evening entertainment.

Dr Jenny also highlighted the importance of skin care, describing the skin as the body’s largest organ and an important protective barrier against external elements.
The therapist, who joined the festival from South Africa, is offering visitors a brief introduction to massage as part of the Afya Zone experience.
The initiative adds a health dimension to Futopia, broadening the festival beyond entertainment to include wellness and healthy living.
