Explore Saudi market,  envoy urges Tanzanians

Ambassador of Tanzania to Saudi Arabia, Ali Jabir Mwadini

SAUDI Arabia has opened up opportunities for investors and businesspersons from Tanzania to explore and expand partnership and have access to the Middle East markets.

Speaking to journalists during a virtual meeting on Wednesday, the Ambassador of Tanzania to Saudi Arabia, Ali Jabir Mwadini said that Tanzania traders and investors currently have easy access to   Saudi Arabia markets, since the country has already created the enabling environment for import and export trade.

“Investors and traders in Tanzania can now have easier access to import and export various products to Saudi Arabia, as well as investing in the country,” the envoy underlined.

He said Tanzania can buy quality products available in Saudi Arabia at cheap prices. He mentioned some of the products available as packaging materials for  food, water pipes, packaging materials for medicine, and electric cables, while Tanzania export honey, meat, fish and other marine products.

“Tanzania businesspersons can as well obtain industrial tools from Saudi Arabia factories such as agricultural equipment, machinery including exploring joint venture opportunities with Saudi Arabia’s companies,” he added.

The envoy added that the government of Saudi Arabia is committed to continue providing soft loans to the government of Tanzania, for it to implement various development projects.

“Tanzania has been receiving soft loans from Saudi Arabia, which have helped the government implement the Chakechake -Wete road project,  renovate Mnazi Mmoja Hospital in Zanzibar, implement  Kiabakari water project in Mara Region and the construct Uvinza road in Kigoma region,” he added.

According to Ambassador Mwadini, the government of Saudi Arabia has also expressed commitment to provide scholarship opportunities for 160 Tanzanians per year, adding that the scholarships can increase should the number of applicants also increase.

On the other hand, the envoy said that the embassy offers support and cooperation to Tanzanians who want to explore various opportunities available in Saudi Arabia.

Recently, Home Affairs Minister Eng Hamad Masauni said Tanzania and Saudi Arabia have been working together to promote prosperity and economic development between the two countries thanks to the excellent friendly relations and good cooperation for years.

Speaking during the celebration of the 92nd year of Saudi Arabia National Day Masauni said Tanzania knows that Saudi Arabia, like other countries in the Middle East is a potential market for Tanzania’s agricultural products such as coffee, tobacco, tea, sisal and several other foodstuffs.

“We support one another, work hand in hand at both bilateral and international fora on issues of mutual interests.  I am confident that the existing friendly relations and good cooperation between our two countries will be maintained and further developed in the years ahead for the mutual benefits of peoples of our two nations”, he was quoted as saying.

Tanzania is grateful for the invaluable support it has been receiving from the Saudi Fund in the sectors of transport, health, education and water. Through this support, several projects have been established.

He hailed his Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, and the friendly people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the auspicious occasion of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s 92nd National Day.

Diplomatic relations between the two brotherly countries began in 1996.
