CCM backs 62tri/- budget
DODOMA: THE ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has commended the government’s 2026/27 budget, describing it as a people-centred financial plan that will accelerate development, strengthen economic self-reliance and improve service delivery across the country.
Speaking to journalists in Dodoma over the weekend, CCM Secretary for Ideology, Publicity and Training, Kenani Kihongosi, said the budget, amounting to more than 62tri/-, reflects the government’s commitment to translating economic growth into tangible benefits for citizens.
He noted that one of the budget’s key highlights is the increased reliance on domestic resources to finance development activities, saying the move demonstrates Tanzania’s determination to strengthen fiscal independence.
“This budget marks a significant step forward. The government has decided to increase the use of domestic resources, with more than 75 per cent of the budget expected to be financed locally. This is an important milestone towards self-reliance and sustainable service delivery,” Mr Kihongosi said.
He commended the Speaker of the National Assembly, ministers and Members of Parliament for scrutinising the budget ahead of its debate, expressing confidence that, once approved, its implementation will drive significant national development.
Mr Kihongosi also used the occasion to brief journalists on an ongoing nationwide party mobilisation tour aimed at strengthening CCM structures and engaging grassroots leaders and members.

He said the tour has so far covered 12 regions and more than 41 districts, involving meetings with branch leaders, cell leaders, party ambassadors, as well as regional and district officials.
“The main objective has been to strengthen the party and engage directly with our leaders and citizens. We are satisfied that CCM remains strong and continues to enjoy widespread public support due to the good work being carried out by the government,” he said.
According to him, the meetings have also provided an opportunity for party leaders to listen to people’s concerns and identify areas requiring further intervention.
“We have been listening to citizens, receiving their views and addressing challenges affecting their communities. As a party that oversees government implementation, it is our responsibility to ensure people’s voices are heard and solutions are found,” he said.
Mr Kihongosi said, unlike political parties that concentrate their activities in urban centres, CCM’s approach focuses on reaching people at the grassroots level.
