COASCO, TUICO agree to establish a Workers’ Council to boost corporation’s efficiency

DODOMA: THE Cooperative Audit and Supervision Corporation (COASCO) and the Tanzania Union of Industrial and Commercial Workers (TUICO) have signed an agreement to establish a Workers’ Council at the Corporation, in a move aimed at strengthening relations between management and employees while improving productivity and efficiency at the workplace.

The agreement was signed during a meeting that brought together COASCO management and TUICO leaders at the Corporation’s headquarters in Dodoma.

Speaking after the signing ceremony, COASCO Acting Director General, CPA Jeremiah Mugeta, said the establishment of the Workers’ Council would provide employees with an official platform to raise their concerns and challenges and seek solutions through dialogue.

He said the Council would also play an important role in creating a better and more productive working environment, which would contribute to improved performance and efficiency in carrying out the Corporation’s responsibilities.

“Today, we have signed an agreement with TUICO to establish the COASCO Workers’ Council. The Council will help create a better and more productive working environment. Through various meetings and discussions, it will contribute to increasing productivity and efficiency in the execution of our duties,” CPA Mugeta said.

For his part, TUICO Head of the Services and Consultancy Sector, Martin Wawa, said the agreement marked an important step towards improving workers’ welfare and working conditions.

Wawa said cooperation between management and employees through a formal dialogue mechanism would help identify workers’ challenges at an early stage and address them in a manner that safeguards the interests of both sides.

Meanwhile, TUICO Dodoma Regional Secretary, Messe Max Chabba, said the next step would be to formally establish the COASCO Workers’ Council in accordance with the laws, regulations and procedures governing the establishment of workers’ councils in Tanzania.

The establishment of the Council is expected to provide a formal mechanism for communication and dialogue between employees and management, helping address workplace challenges, strengthen cooperation and improve operational efficiency within COASCO.
