MTWARA: CCM Secretary General Ambassador Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi has lauded the intra-party democracy.
He said the intra-party freedom and democracy give chance to news leaders to rise and accelerate development of citizens.
Dr Nchimbi appreciated CCM’s intra-party democracy yesterday, while greeting Mpapura’s residents in Mtwara Rural District.
He noted that democracy within the party provides room for a new generation of leaders to rise by leveraging the vast experience of senior leaders, a situation which assures sustainability of the party.
“CCM is like an old bottle with new wine,” he said explaining that the ‘old bottle’ is the party and ‘new wine’ stands for a new generation of leaders.
He said it is quite dissimilar to opposition parties with old wine and a new bottle.

Dr Nchimbi said the intra-party democracy is only fully exercised by CCM, unlike to opposition parties in which, their leaders are unchanged and reluctant to give opportunity to the new generation.
He said in opposition parties it is a normal practice to find top leaders including chairpersons to lead for over two decades with no will to retire so as to give room to new generation with news ideas.
He said CCM has been differentiating itself by embracing intra-party democracy.
He even cited the post he leads as the party’s Secretary General had undergone several changes in ten years to allow emerging leaders including himself to lead.
He was greeting the citizens who waited for him along the road on his way to Lindi Region.
In another development, on behalf of the party, he contributed a total of 10m/- to support the construction of Mtwara Rural District’s CCM office.
Nchimbi’s working visit in the Southern Zone yesterday entered day three.
Earlier, yesterday morning, Amb Nchimbi had a closed-door meeting with CCM’s leaders in Mtwara, which was held at the party regional office.
