Cashless fuel payments boost business efficiency

DAR ES SALAAM: BUSINESSES managing vehicle fleets are set to gain greater control over fuel expenditure, reduce losses and improve efficiency as digital payment solutions make fuel transactions easier to monitor and manage.

Cashless fuel payments enable companies to track purchases in real time, monitor vehicle usage and identify suspicious transactions, strengthening accountability and reducing the risk of fuel theft and misuse.

Against this backdrop, TotalEnergies Marketing Tanzania Limited has introduced Mobility Card Plus, a digital fuel payment solution designed to make transactions more secure, convenient and transparent.

Speaking during the launch in Dar es Salaam over the weekend, the company’s Managing Director, Mr Mamadou Ngom, said the system responds to customers’ demand for safer payments and better control over fuel expenditure.

“Mobility Card Plus provides greater visibility into fuel transactions, vehicle usage and expenditure. Its flexible controls and enhanced security features help reduce the risk of misuse,” he said.

Digital transaction records and consolidated invoicing also simplify financial reporting and reconciliation, reducing the administrative burden of managing fuel expenses.

Mr Ngom said the digital options reflected the company’s commitment to technological innovation and improved customer experience.

Director of Arasco Energies Limited, Mr Thabit Binzou, said the solution would simplify fuel transactions and account management, allowing customers to replenish their balances from different locations.

He said his company had partnered with TotalEnergies since 2023, initially through its Makanya service station. Representing Insignia Limited, a company associated with Coral Paints products, Mr Nishid Modesa said the card had strengthened fuel accountability and security for drivers and businesses.

“We have realised that it offers greater security for both drivers and the company. It has also helped us curb fuel misuse and prevent fuel theft,” he said.
