YOUNG Africans said they are privileged to host both legs of the first preliminary round CAF Champions League matches against ASAS FC of Djibouti at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam.
The two sides meet in the first leg match at Azam Complex this Sunday before playing again for the reverse leg duel at the same venue on Sunday next week.
This was confirmed on Tuesday by the club’s Media and Communication Manager Ali Kamwe who said they want to write a big statement on both legs.
“We have received official communication from CAF informing us that we are going to host both legs of the preliminary round at Azam Complex and we are pleased with this development,” he said.
“We want to make a big statement that this year, we are destined to achieve more in the champions league and our target is to step in the group stage.
“Last season, we did well in the CAF Confederation Cup by reaching the final stage and we want to transfer that success to the Champions League,” he said.
He further noted that Yanga have a bad record when it comes to the Champions League competition, hence they are now ready to put that under the carpet this time around.
On the progress of winger Mahlatse Makudubela (Skudu) who was injured during their Community Shield match against Azam in Tanga, Kamwe says he is much better now.
In terms of entry charges, he said VIP A will be accessed for 30,000/-, VIP B 20,000/- while ordinary seats go at 5,000/-.
Also, Kamwe urged their members and fans to purchase the tickets early insisting that the capacity of Azam Complex is small hence the earlier they buy tickets, the better it will be for them to find a space.
He also revealed that after the Community Shield engagement in Tanga, the team’s full squad was set to regroup day afternoon for the resumption of drills ahead of their Sunday’s match.
