Arusha RC and Vietnamese envoys explore areas of trade and investment between Tanzania and Vietnam
ARUSHA: THE Arusha Regional Commissioner Amos Makalla has held talks with a Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Hoang Hiep on opportunities to strengthen cooperation and increase trade and investment between Tanzania and Vietnam.
Makalla received the delegation at his office in Arusha on September 25, 2026, and expressed the region’s readiness to work with Vietnam to facilitate investment and support other development initiatives.
He also commended Vietnam’s contribution to Tanzania’s telecommunications sector through Halotel, saying the company’s presence demonstrates the opportunities available for deeper economic cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking during the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep highlighted opportunities to expand trade, investment and economic cooperation between Vietnam and Tanzania. He identified the livestock sector as one of the areas offering significant opportunities in Arusha.
Hiep also said Vietnam is seeking to increase the number of Vietnamese tourists visiting Tanzania through joint promotional efforts and greater visibility for the tourism attractions found in Arusha.
The Vietnamese delegation’s visit to Arusha follows its participation in the Second Session of the Joint Cooperation Commission between Tanzania and Vietnam, held in Dar es Salaam from September 21 to 23, 2026.
The discussions form part of broader efforts by Tanzania and Vietnam to deepen bilateral economic cooperation, particularly in trade, investment, tourism and agriculture-related sectors.
